Shankar IAS Practical handbook on answer writing is our humble attempt to bring together some of the commonly accepted practices in answer writing along with our learnings on the same. The Mainstorming team has been guiding students over the last decade, helping over 1000 candidates secure ranks in civil service examination. We don’t claim this book to be a panacea for all your answer writing concerns, however it will give you a reasonable understanding.

When we sat down to compile this book our attempt was to provide practical solutions and best practices anyone can emulate. We have tried to use previous year CSE questions extensively to substantiate our point of view. We have also provided relevant screenshots and answer sheets of toppers to help you observe and apply the learnings in practice. The book has a limitation in sharing the journey of a topper, and the progress they achieved through practice. Observational learning requires observational skills and is person centric. While adapting and emulating them, it is important to know what best practices to choose , what techniques to learn and most importantly how to use them in an effective manner. However most students do not apply their learnings and practice or experiment with answer writing. Just reading the content will not be suffcient, you need to sharpen your weapons with practice before you enter the battle field.
